Printing Update!

Hey backers!

Sorry for the radio silence. As I shared in my last update, we decided to add another short story to the book. The time involved in hiring an artist and getting the work done definitely delayed our original schedule. BUT this only means we'll be delivering you even more content than we'd originally planned!

Here's where we are now, and where we're going:

We're putting the touches on the print file for the book, and it will be going to print this month. Once the proof is approved, the digital copy will be available. We'll be sending that out ahead of shipments. When the books ship from the printer to us, we'll put in orders for our other awards (like the tote bags!). And once we have everything, we'll start shipping!

Printing Delay! (But it'll be worth it!)

Hey backers!

This update is coming a little later in the month than I'd like, but I wanted to finalize some things before hitting y'all with an update. 

If you follow us online, then you may be aware that Arledge Comics was selected for the Human Rights Campaign's "Queer to Stay" grant. We're investing some of those funds into the Alex Priest Trade. Namely, we're going to include some extra short stories (ALL-NEW CONTENT) that would have been unlocked via stretch goals but weren't. 

So we're pushing back printing by a month or two so we have time for artists to generate that new content! We have scripts for two addition short stories, and we have linework for one of those stories already. This means adding almost an additional 40 pages of content. For you. For free!

We appreciate your patience in terms of this delay. And I hope you're all as excited as we are!

Hey backers!

I hope everyone had a safe and otherwise good holiday season. We took some time off to spend with our friends and family, but we're now back at work making comics!

Our print file for Alex Priest is currently sitting at 95% complete. I'm waiting on two vital assets to the backmatter before I seal it all up and zip it to our printer. Our go-to printer has been excellent despite supply chain disruptions, so the hope is that we won't be hurting for paper. :) 

I'll be posting a mini update when files at sent to the printer. Then your next update will be when books arrive or two months from this update - whichever comes first.

Hey Backers!

The Backerkit survey is now locked! This means we're now hard at work getting your rewards ready. :D

We're putting the book together and trying to get it to print this month. It's unlikely we'll have the volume in time for Emerald City Comic Con (Dec 4), where you can find us at booth 2007 on the main floor (!!) but that's what we're pushing for. If we have the books by then, we'll be running fulfillment while at the convention (we like to keep busy during slow periods!). If not, y'all will be getting another project update after the convention with our projected fulfillment date.

BackerKit Surveys!

Hey backers!

We've finally got our BackerKit surveys finalized and sent out; plus our preorder link is now live!

For those unfamiliar with the process:

BackerKit is an external service from Kickstarter. Using their service allows us to offer additional add-ons to your pledge, if you'd like, and have presales continue until we pull the trigger on a print order. The smoke test emails just went out (to approximately 10% of you). Assuming there are no snags in the survey process, the rest of you will see emails throughout the week to fill out your survey. You'll be asked to verify your pledge amount and add on any additional items you may want. If you don't want any extras, just verify your pledge, put in any needed shipping information, and you're good to go!

The survey will be live until 11/1/21. So you'll be able to edit your shipping addresses until that time.

As promised, the chronological edition of Alex Priest is available for preorder through the BackerKit. It wasn't unlocked through the KS campaign, but we're offering it anyway! If you were looking forward to adding that volume to your order, now's the time to do so! Any additional funds we raise will go toward our total goal, and we're hoping to unlock color for the final volume!

Fulfillment timelines:

If we unlock the color stretch goal by the November 1 deadline, then fulfillment will be delayed until early next year. This will give us time to color everything(!) and allow time for printing and shipping.

If color is not unlocked, the book will go to print this November, and fulfillment will happen throughout December and January.
